Support for responding to disclosures of sexual abuse
The Disability Workforce Support Project has been developed by Laurel House to support service providers in responding to disclosures of sexual abuse from a person with disability. The Project offers a range of educational resources that are freely available and offers training using these resources.
Resource subjects include:
- guides to responding to disclosures of sexual abuse
- referral pathways
- prevalence and impact of sexual violence against people with disability
- myths and facts about sex and disability
- risk factors and strategies
- being trauma-informed
- communication considerations
- reporting and evidence (including how to support a person who is deciding to contact the Police)
